CPWI
Advanced PC Control Software -
Replace the Hand Control with a PC
Originally developed in cooperation with PlaneWave Instruments, CPWI is now
developed directly by Celestron and available free at Celestron's website.
CPWI takes the place of
the physical hand control. Running on a Windows PC, alignment of the mount
is performed in CPWI. Multiple alignment stars can be added to the
alignment model to reach a very high level of pointing precision.
Interface with other astronomy software is accomplished using the standard ASCOM
driver system.
CPWI was originally only compatible with the CGX and CGX-L mounts but as of
April 2019, CPWI is compatible with all of Celestron's current computerized
telescopes; visit their website for a full list of compatible models. Note that the mounts
which are supported must either have a data-enabled USB port on the mount (all
mounts with USB ports with the exception of the Evolution do have such a port -
the USB port on the Evolution is only for charging an external device), a
NexStar+ or StarSense hand control (hand control version 4 or older is not
compatible), or a Celestron WiFi interface.
Owners of older, unsupported mounts
may want to look into NexRemote.
